There will not be an island overnight in 2020 due to some regulatory changes. However, it's possible for small groups to take power boats (pangas) to the islands with their kayaks in the morning, circumnavigate and explore the islands, then paddle back to our base on the same day. There will be an additional charge of about $40 for the power boat ride out.
British Canoeing Assessments are available! There will be a Sea Leader Assessment March 31-April 1. Advance registration with British Canoeing is required. Please visit www.britishcanoeing.org.uk for details.
Britsh Canoeing Personal Performance Award assessments for "Sea Kayak" and "Coastal Sea Kayak" are also possible. There are no pre-requisites or advance registration needed for these - you just need to tell us! Please visit www.britishcanoeing.org.uk to read the details of the awards and what is required to pass an assessment.
2013 was a tremendous success! Thanks to all the participants and coaches who made it a truly memorable event! We're looking forward to 2014 and beyond!
Our event is held along a magical stretch of coastline in northern Baja where a rocky peninsula juts into the Pacific. Here, the ocean swell interacts with the rocky, craggy coastline to produce a multitude of play spots for the adventurous kayaker! Two small islands a few miles offshore provide a spectacular destination for intrepid explorers and the wildlife that the cold, clear waters nurture is outstanding.
One of my favorite things about kayaking is experiencing new places and meeting new people. There's nothing like traveling at 3 or 4 mph to get to know a place! Since we're in Mexico, we're going to enjoy the culture, food, history, and uniqueness of our location and travel off the typical tourist path, both on land and in our kayaks!
The location is about 3 hours south of San Diego and a few minutes south of Ensenada, Baja.
